2004 OUCAS Reunion - May 15, 2004, Athens, Ohio, Ohio University

Dear Alumni, Students, and Friends of Ohio University Chinese Alumni Society:

The Ohio University Chinese Alumni Society (OUCAS) 2004 Reunion has been successfully accomplished together with the International Alumni and Friends Reunion and year-long Bicentennial Celebration of Ohio University on May 14-15, 2004 in Athens, Ohio.

About 20 alumni and 60 students on campus have attended the first OUCAS Alumni/Students Forum "OPPORTUNITIES, CHALLENGES & CAREER OPTIONS BEYOND UNIVERSITY" in Morton Hall at 3:00 PM on May 15, 2004.  After the forum, the election of OUCAS gave birth to the first elected Advisory Board and the first elected Executive Committee of the term of 2004-2006. The new Advisory Board and Executive Committee will be effective by July 1, 2004 and end on June 30, 2006. The election results will be announced shortly by the Chair of Election Committee of OUCAS, Dr. Yungsheng Li at Ohio University. Congratulation to our new leadership team!!!

Later evening, about 100 alumni, students, and friends have also enjoyed the OUCAS Banquet featured with the keynote speech "Get the Champagne out of the Bottles: The Treasured Asian Collections in the Library of Congress.", given by Dr. Hwa-Wei Lee, Chief of Asian Division, U.S. Library of Congress, Dean Emeritus of Ohio University Alden Library 1978-1999. Then, President of OUCAS, Hongwei Wang, from Shell Global Solutions US Inc., reviewed OUCAS in the past four years since the inception of OUCAS in 2000. His presentation includes "History of Chinese Students and Scholars at OU," "Vision and Mission of OU Chinese Alumni Society," "Chinese Alumni Society Development," and "Ohio University Education" . I wish you all have had a great time during this first reunion organized by Ohio University Chinese Alumni Society although we have experienced some difficulties in the programming and execution because of humble experiences and other limitations.  I wish we will see more and more quality programs in our alumni society with your continuous leadership, involvement, and support in the future.
